The print is a juxtaposition of redacted text, and traditional floral block printing. In the 1970’s and 1980’s Pakistani newspapers went through a phase of extreme censorship, and along with this, certain artistic styles were discouraged, and instead replaced with tradition Islamic art involving paisleys and florals.
The fabric is woven by hand and then quilted for added texture and flair. Once again, Rastah's very own, Aslam Mirza, has facilitated the house in its efforts to redefine the concept of block-printing in Pakistan. A royal blue paisley strip is printed on the collar and sleeve, vibrant semi circle detailing on the front panel, floral motifs at the collar, and various other intricate block print details.
