The chosen fabric for the garment is a premium terry cloth blend which was made specially for Rastah. The fabric for the motif and side-patch is hand loomed "Khaadi" fabric. The side patch is slightly distressed and front motif is finished with a grainy look. The garment is hand-crafted in the city of Lahore, Pakistan.
FURTHER INFO:
A limited edition hand crafted t-shirt exclusively for our close community. If you are reading this right now then we consider you a pivotal part of our journey (RASTAH) and invite you to get your hands on one of our exclusive pieces made just for you.
The front motif design is printed on a hand loomed sheet of Khaddar fabric. Khadi or khaddar is a hand-spun, hand-woven natural fiber cloth from Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh mainly made out of cotton. There is a quite evident production constraint with this fabric as a single loom can only conjure up 5-7 meters of this delicate fabric in a day. Moreover, this process requires tremendous skill, expertise, and experience. It is truly a dying art form especially with the advent of modern day mass production facilities, however the quality produced through this hand-spun process cannot be compared to what is produced in giant facilities.
The front motif is a Mughal inspired artwork and is finished off by an added textured grain. The patch you see on the right sleeve is made out of a distressed piece of hand loomed fabric and it features a bit of urdu poetry by the last Mughal emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar. He was also known as a renowned poet but most of his compositions were lost. This is one of the poems that was salvaged and it reads:
"
Never was it as difficult to talk as it is now,
never was your company as it is now
Who has taken away your peace, and....
O my heart you were never so ........ as you are now
