A 400 GSM chocolate brown hoodie constructed in our signature, slightly oversized silhouette. Elastic cuffs and hemmed opening at the bottom. The piece consists of hand-machine embroidered roses in red and mustard with exaggerated thread work popping out. The back of the piece contains a hand woven patch, burnt at the edges, appliqued with verses from “Bol” by Pakistani poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz. The verses touch on the importance of standing up for one’s rights and the exercise of free speech, and are part of Faiz’s much larger body of revolutionary work. The ‘bleeding roses’ scattered across the garment serve as visual metaphors for his icon words.

 English translation of verses:

Speak, for your lips are free,
Speak, your tongue is still yours,
Your upright body is yours-
speak, your life is still yours.

See how in the blacksmith's shop
The flames are hot, the iron is red,
Mouths of locks have begun to open,
Each chain's skirt has spread wide.
