Drawing influence from the various uniforms presented to different factions of the Indian army by the British Raj, this piece becomes a symbol of unity and strength. In the divisive strategies of the British Raj, which aimed to segment and rule, soldiers from diverse backgrounds were pushed into various groups, each with its distinct attire. Each fabric and color represents a tale from history: the khaki cotton block print signifies the earthiness of the land, the red silk jamawar evokes passion, while the olive green wool grounds the piece in tradition. The jacket is beautifully punctuated with gold shoulder pads and hand-embroidered distressed and abstract badges.
